Quantum Mechanic is extremely successful in predicting experimental results and has a vast range of applications. Nonetheless, many unanswered questions remain. The school will introduce Master and PhD students to the still outstanding problems in our understanding of quantum foundations.
To give a deep look into the foundations of quantum mechanics, the school will cover one topic a day: Collapse Models on day 1, Bohmian Mechanics on day 2, and Shape Dynamics on day 3. In the mornings, lectures will be given by experts in the field: A. Bassi, D. Dürr, N. Zanghì. The afternoons will be dedicated to tutorials where more applied aspects of each theory will be presented sand discussed. Additionally, one hour every day will be dedicated to short talks by selected students, who will have the chance to present the problems they are working on.
Registration is mandatory (use form below). Applicants are asked to provide a short (300 words) motivation letter explaining why they wish to attend the school. There is no free; participants will have to cover their travel and local expenses. A limited number participants will be given free accommodation in double rooms in the ICTP Adriatico guesthouse. Applicants who wish to share one of these rooms are asked to briefly motivate their request (200 words).
Deadline for standard registration: 3rd June 2019 .
